The 2013 BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe is 4.4 inches longer than the coupe and will be offered as three distinct models, which mostly goes to the rear occupants to improve rear-seat comfort and BMW's four-door answer, wrapped in stretched 6-series coupe sheetmetal. The BMW 640i Gran Coupe will go on sale first and be powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine producing 315 hp. Later in 2013, the BMW 650i Gran Coupe will debut with 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 and be available in either rear- or all-wheel drive. Like the 6er coupe, it is mechanically similar to the 5-series—following the pattern of the A7 and CLS, which are rebodied versions of the Audi A6 and Benz E-class. 2013 BMW 640i Gran Coupe starts at $76,895.

Thanks to intensive fine-tuning of the engine, BMW’s engineers have managed to extract additional performance from the engine while maintaining its exceptional fuel efficiency. With a maximum power rating of 315 hp (225 kW) at 5,800 to 6,000 rpm, the 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine reflects the sporty personality of the BMW 640i Gran Coupe and helps this automobile deliver brilliant performance. The high peak torque of 330 lb-ft, on stream between 1,300 and 4,500 rpm, ensures that the power is effortlessly and instantly delivered. 

As a result, the BMW 640i Gran Coupe can show off its prowess with a 0 to 60 mph sprint time of just 5.4 seconds. Top speed is electronically governed at 155 mph (250 km/h). All this extra performance comes with exceptional fuel economy and low emission figures. EPA fuel economy ratings will be available closer to the US on-sale date.
