After what seems an eternity, Toyota's new 2012 Toyota 86 GTS Sports Car makes its world debut at the Tokyo motor show on November 30. The 86 is the result of a joint development between Toyota and Subaru, designed to delight driving enthusiasts, the compact and aerodynamic four-seater sports car. Toyota’s new 86 sports car is offered in two model grades – 86 GT and 86 GTS – with the choice of six-speed manual or six-speed direct-shift automatic transmissions. This unique powertrain format, combined with a compact design, light weight and a low centre of gravity, produces the best possible power-to-weight ratio. It will go on sale in the Summer 2012. An official announcement for the North American market will most likely be made in Detroit.

2012 Toyota 86 GTS Interior
The seats not only look great, they also offer excellent support even
without the multi-adjustment configurations of pricier European sports
cars. Instrumentation is again pure sports car with a large central
tachometer surrounded by other gauges with both digital and analogue
readouts.
The rear seat is really only for hand luggage, the front seats are

complicated by buttons”. Tada-San went further – fold the rear seat flat
and you have just enough space to store four spare wheels so your

2012 Toyota 86 GTS Engine
In the Toyota model, this engine will only deliver 200 HP at 7000 rpm
and maximum torque of 151 lb-ft at 6600 rpm, but Subaru has promised a
total of 300 HP for their version. That being said, the base BRZ will
come with the same 200 HP that the new GT-86 is sporting, bringing these
two models closer than originally anticipated
2012 Toyota 86 GTS Safety
Toyota promises five-star ANCAP for the 86 and backs
it with seven airbags including protection for the driver's knees, solid
work on the front end to protect pedestrians, and big brakes with ABS
and ESP stability control. But its trump card is the dynamic ability
which means an 86 driver has far more ability to avoid a potential
threat than someone in, say, a Camry.
